2018 Wanaka A&P Show Preparations in Full Swing
The Wanaka Show is renowned as one of the most picturesque A&P show’s in the country, set on the stunning Wanaka lake front. Scheduled for March 9-10, 2018 the organisers are expecting similar crowd numbers to last year’s record breaking 40,000.
“The show keeps evolving and growing every year and we’re excited about what’s on offer for 2018,” says event manager Jane Stalker. “We’ve got some fantastic musicians, acts and trade stalls secured. There’ll be plenty to keep the whole family entertained for the entire two days of the event.”
Celebrity animal behaviourist Mark Vette will be speaking in the popular GJ Gardner Life and Style Marquee. Additional entertainment is still to be announced.
The kids will be well entertained with the cheeky humour of Captain Festus McBoyle and his motley crew. While Wayne McEwan’s Animal Antics Show will appeal to the younger children. On the Radio Wanaka Stage there’s a John Denver impersonator and popular Kiwi country rock duo Cooper’s Run.
New for 2018 is the first Strong Man competition. Locals can test their strength while flexing their muscles in various stunts, ranging from flipping giant tyres to keg tossing.
In addition to the stellar entertainment line-up, will be the traditional Show drawcards. These include equestrian and livestock events, sheep shearing, food stalls, wine and food garden, classic carnival rides, more than 400 trade exhibitor stalls, wood-chopping competitions and the famous Jack Russell race.
