Overview
The Upper Clutha A&P Society is seeking a highly organised and capable individual to support the planning and delivery of the competitive sections of the Wānaka A&P Show. This role primarily covers livestock-based competitions, particularly equestrian and sheep, and ensures smooth, compliant, and professional operations that uphold the Show’s high standards of animal welfare and exhibitor experience.

Due to the retirement of a long-term team member, this is a transitional appointment. The successful candidate will work alongside the incumbent throughout the lead-up to and during the 2026 Wānaka A&P Show (part-time February/March 2026), with the role formally commencing in late 2026 for planning of the 2027 Show.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all livestock and home industry competitive sections, working closely with convenors, stewards, and judges
  • Manage livestock arrival procedures, holding environments, biosecurity measures, and compliance with relevant regulations
  • Administer entries, catalogues, results, and all supporting competition documentation
  • Communicate effectively with sponsors and assist with broader Show operations
  • Support volunteer coordination within livestock areas
  • Provide professional and timely responses to exhibitor and competitor enquiries before, during, and after the Show
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in competition systems, processes, and exhibitor experience

Skills and Experience

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure during event delivery periods
  • Confident interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Experience in livestock handling, rural events, or agricultural competitions (preferred)
  • Competency with digital tools for data entry, scheduling, and reporting
  • Understanding of health and safety obligations and animal welfare standard
