The Show is a chance to see our community in action. From the livestock rings to the home industry displays, trade exhibitors and rural demonstrations, it highlights the people, skills and stories that shape this region. Whether you’re here to compete, shop, learn, or enjoy a day out, there’s plenty to take in—and a lot to take away.
A showcase of our rural community.
The Wānaka A&P Show isn’t just an event—it’s a reflection of the Upper Clutha. It brings together everything that makes this place special: rural roots, creative talent, hardworking producers, passionate competitors, and a strong sense of community.
Organised by the Upper Clutha A&P Society, the Show exists to support, promote and encourage the growth of our rural sector. Each year, it gives us the chance to showcase the best of the region to thousands of visitors—right here in our own backyard.

Competitions
Competitions are a big part of the Show. Across the weekend, you’ll see livestock and equestrian events, baking and preserves, produce, flowers, art, photography and more in the Home Industry Pavilion. The Jack Russell Race in the Main Ring continues to be a crowd favourite, drawing big numbers and plenty of noise. Whether you’re competing or just watching, it’s a great way to experience the depth and variety of our community.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are at the heart of the Wānaka A&P Show, and we couldn’t do it without you. Whether you’re keen to help out, meet people, or get a behind-the-scenes look, it’s a great way to be involved. With over 200 volunteers each year, many return because they love the experience.
Roles range from hospitality to event support, with perks including free entry, lunch, and refreshments. Local clubs and community groups can also take part through fundraising roles — with $80,000 given back annually to support local initiatives.
