After recently selling her Wānaka hospitality business of 10 years, Shaz Lahood wasn’t ready to slow down. With more than 30 years’ experience in accounting practices in Perth, Western Australia, she was looking for a few days’ work to keep her mind active and reconnect with the community. The Finance Officer role at the Wanaka A&P Show came along at exactly the right time.
As Finance Officer, Shaz is responsible for keeping track of money coming in and going out – and much more behind the scenes. From managing accounts to supporting the wider team, her role helps ensure the Show runs smoothly.
Although it’s still early days, she’s already enjoying working alongside the dedicated office team and is looking forward to experiencing her first Show from the inside. Come Show time, she’s especially excited about the Equestrian events and the food stalls.
Shaz says it’s been eye-opening to see what goes on behind the scenes to deliver such a mammoth event, and she’s proud to be part of a Show that means so much to the Wānaka community.
